Encounter Retreats

The New Year is an opportunity to look back and look forward. With the slower pace of winter, and especially in this ongoing season of pandemic, we are often spending time close to home. There are 3 Encounter virtual retreats now open for registration in January and February designed to attend to matters of the heart.

Join us for a Saturday morning (or all 3 Saturday mornings) to attend to God and to our own hearts. The first retreat is Encounter: Repent and Follow on January 9th from 9:00-10:45am (following retreats are on January 23rd and February 6th - registration is open for all). We will engage the themes of the first section of the devotional Encounter: Engaging God with an Open Heart with Scripture, silence, prayer practices, and reflection together. There will be some opportunity for sharing if you desire. Registration is open now and will close January 3rd for the first retreat. There are limited spaces available.

A multiple page retreat document (with Scriptures, images, reflection questions, schedule, and more) will be made available to you before our virtual event on an Encounter Retreats website page - when you register you will receive the password to access the page. This will be a guide for our prayer together.

When I host a physical retreat, often with a partner, we provide an inviting and nurturing space to enter into prayer. For this virtual retreat I encourage you to partner with me and plan ahead. You will need to find a quiet space for your retreat (there will be time for silence and reflection), consider asking those you live with to guard this time for you, and prepare what you need ahead of time (print retreat packet, bible, journal, pen, markers or colored pencils, a candle to light, hot cup of coffee or tea). The zoom link will be open by 8:45am so that folks can be sure they can log on.

If you have registered (or are considering registration) I encourage you to begin praying for our time together. Pray that God would prepare our hearts for this time together, that the Spirit would move even now to prepare us and meet us in that time. And please pray for me.

In these days of virtual gathering our hearts miss gathering in person. We have felt the losses for we are created to gather in community. But we can ask God to meet with us in supernatural ways, to bind us together over the distance, to provide what we need, to bless us, and draw us to Himself. Join me in this prayer for renewal and encouragement.

The devotional Encounter is not necessary to attend the retreat, but you may want to purchase a copy through my website or Amazon. Also retreat attendees will receive a coupon in the retreat packet for a discounted print that can be used in January and February if there is a desire to purchase a particular image.

I so look forward to this time to attend to our hearts as we enter the new year. Please contact me if you have any questions.
